स्मृति वन... एक कोशिश

" जैसा नाम वैसा काम" यह कहावत राजीव गाँधी स्मृति वन पर लागू होती है। स्मृति वन एक ऐसा पार्क है जहाँ लोग अपने प्रियजनों के नाम पर किसी पेड़ को गोद लेते हैं या एक नया पौधा लगाते हैं। इस वन को 20 अगस्त ,1991में राजीव गाँधी की पुण्यतिथि पर तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री नरसिंहाराव के द्वारा स्थापित किया गया था। यह पार्क इन्द्रप्रस्थ पार्क और सराय काले खां के बीच स्थित हैं। इस पार्क में 500 रूपये का भुगतान कर एक पेड़ गोद लिया जा सकता है यह योजना दिल्ली नगर निगम द्वारा शुरू की है। आज दिल्ली में प्रदूषण की मात्रा का बढ़ना और पेड़ों की संख्या का कम होना जारी है ऐसे में यह योजना पर्यावरण को संतुलित करने में कारागर सिद्ध होगी। पार्क में 5000 पेड़ है जिनमे से 250 पेड़ पिछले साल (2008) में ही लगाए गये है। यहाँ पर ज्यादातर पीपल , बरगद , आम , गुलमोहर , अशोक के पेड़ है। लोग अपने प्रियजनों को पेड़ समर्पित करने के साथ-साथ हरित पर्यावरण बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दे रहे हैं।

Unveiling of the Queen’s Baton Relay

As a countdown to the Commonwealth Games, the prototype of Queen's Baton was unveiled at a spectacular show in New Delhi on Sunday। The Governor of Delhi, Lt.Tejinder Khanna performed the honour to a thunderous applause from the hundreds of enthusiastic crowd who had gathered at the majestic India Gate lawns on the eve of Commonwealth Day, celebrated on the second Monday of March every year.

“The visitors coming to India for the Games would retain only good memories when they go back. There shall be no doubt about security. The policing will be tight during the Games and I can assure all a peaceful and secure Commonwealth Games,” said Khanna.
Among those present were Commonwealth Games Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, Organising Committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra.

More than 200 artistes from across the country performed cultural programmes on the occasion। The event became all the more electrifying because of the laser shows and fireworks. The programme progressed into a depiction of India at its best. Undoubtedly the highlight of the show was the ethereal performance by the Flying Angels. These artistes from the UK were lifted high in the air with the help of a giant crane. They mesmerised the whole crowd with their heavenly and graceful moves. A spectacular display of fireworks in the background made it a truly magical show.

The baton relay will start from the Buckingham Palace, London, in November this year.

DU ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW "2009"

The show hosted on 27th feb 2009, the lawns of the Faculty of Social Sciences on the North Campus opposite Daulat Ram College from 12 noon to 5 p.m. On the occasion, a painting competition for school children and street plays by Jan Natya Manch were also organised. The show is held every year to promote interest in the environment among students, teachers and others. The special attractions this year cacti, orchids and succulents. A botanical quiz was held. The event was open to all colleges, institutions and departments of the University and other educational institutions in the city.The competitors will have to submit duly filled forms along with entry fee to the secretary of the Flower Show Committee.

Youth Awakening Rally

Youth Awakening Rally was organized by ‘Leaders For Tomorrow’ (LFT) on 24th February, 2009। The rally aimed at encouraging young people to channelise their potential for nation building। The youth present there took a pledge to actively participate in the process of leading India towards progress, social change, harmony, prosperity and fulfilling the vision of making India the next Super Power. The rally began from the North Campus metro Station and went up to St. Stephen's college. Dignatries like Ms. Barkha dutt, Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai, Mr.Vijay Trivedi, Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Deepak Pental and Reverend Dr. Valson Thampu, Principal of St. Stephen's College also participated in the rally. LFT comprises of students from the Delhi University.

हम किसी से कम नही

खुशी, सीमा (बदला हुआ नाम ) की वीरान जिंदगी में बहार लेकर आई थी । आज खुशी पाँच साल की हो गई है पर ठीक से बोल नही पाती। सीमा , खुशी को लेकर डॉक्टर के पास गई। डॉक्टर ने कुछ टेस्ट करने के बाद सीमा से खुशी का आई क्यू टेस्ट (बौद्धिक स्तर ) करवाने को कहा । आई क्यू टेस्ट होने के बाद यह साफ़ हो गया कि खुशी भगवान के भेजे हुए विशेष बच्चो में से एक है और मानसिक विक्लांगता कि शिकार है।

चाइल्ड डेवेलोपमेंट सेंटर की स्पेशल एक्जीक्यूटर नसीम फातिम के अनुसार ,"समय से पहले बच्चो का जन्म, बच्चो में आयोडीन की कमी , गर्भवती महिला को पौष्टिक आहार की कमी और जब बच्चा गर्भ में हो तो माँ के साथ कोई अप्रिय घटना का घटित होना आदि कारणों से अधिकतर बच्चों में मानसिक विकलांगता होती हैं। ऐसा ही कुछ खुशी के केस में भी हुआ। जब खुशी सीमा के गर्भ में थी तभी एक कार दुर्घटना में समा के पति सुरेश की मौत हो गई थी जिसके सदमे का असर सीमा के साथ -साथ खुशी के दिमाग पर भी पडा।

चाइल्ड डेवेलोपमेंट सेंटर एक ऐसा केन्द्र हैं जहाँ पर मानसिक रूप से विकलांग बच्चों को पढाया जाता है और उन्हें वोकेशनल ट्रेनिंग भी जाती हैं। इस डेवेलोपमेंट सेंटर की डायरेक्टर का कहना है कि "इन बच्चो के साथ मैं बहुत अच्छा महसूस करती हूँ और यह बच्चे दूसरे बच्चो कि ही तरह बहुत मासूम होते है बस इन्हे थोड़ा ज्यादा प्यार और केयर कि जरूरत होती है। " इस सेन्टर में इन बच्चों को मानसिक विकार से लड़ने के साथ- साथ मोमबत्ती बनाना , ग्रीटिंग बनाना और लिफाफे बनाने कि वोकेशनल ट्रेनिंग दी जाती है। इन बच्चो में अलग- अलग तरह के विकार है परन्तु इस सेंटर में इन सभी का उनकी विकलांगता से ध्यान हटाकर उनकी योग्यता पर ज्यादा ध्यान दिलाया जाता हैं। इन बच्चों के मनोचिकित्सक डॉक्टर जे सी निगम मानसिक विकलांगता के सिम्टम के बारे में कहना है कि इन बच्चो को बोलने, देखने या समझने में परेशानी होती है। अन्य बच्चो की तुलना में देर से बैठना, चलना और बोलना सीखते है। उन्हें बातों को याद रखने या नई चीजों को सिखने में परेशानी होती है। उन्हें तर्कसंगत तरीके से सोचने में परेशानी होती है।

कुछ केस में मानसिक विकलांग बच्चों को अगर नियमित रूप से दवाई दी जाये तो वो पूरी तरह से ठीक हो सकते है। लेकिन यह सभी केस पर लागू नही होता। कुछ मानसिक रोगी बहुत ही हिंसक होते हैं जिन पर काबू पाना मुश्किल होता है। मानसिक रूप से विकलांग लगभग 87 % लोग नई जानकारी और हुनर सिखने में कमजोर होते है। कुछ बच्चों के बचपन में उनकी मानसिक स्थिति का पता ठीक ढंग से नहीं चल पाता हैं। बाकी के बचे 13 % वे लोग होते हैं जिनका बौद्धिक स्तर का स्कोर 50 से कम होता है इन लोगों को स्कूल, घर और समुदाय में ज्यादा परेशानी होती है। परन्तु प्रत्येक मानसिक विकलांग बच्चे में सिखने और विकास करने की शक्ति होती है और मदद के साथ सभी मानसिक विकलांग बच्चे एक संतोषजनक जीवन बिता सकते हैं।
